Ok, time to pick your brains again. I'm putting together an "Italian Dinner" basket

Antipasti night

jarred marinated artichokes
olives
mushrooms
sundried tomatoes
Grissini sesame breadsticks
focaccia crackers
all on a neat platter
plus CD or DVD
I love the new Andrea Bocelli CD idea

ArthurAve.com has some pasta and sauce specials, you can keep some and put some in the basket smileys/wink.gif

there is a special code I have at home for a further discount, I can post if you like

good luck!

P.S. Where are my manners - thanks!!

But all I get when I go to arthurave.com is a bunch of links that take me to other links. Where are the items?

Thanks everyone for these ideas.I think I've got the food items all set now, but need a non-food big

item to include. I like the A.B. cd idea, Italian cookbook, and the pasta bowl (still not sure if I want the colander or the bowl), but am just wondering about a newer dvd.

Is there anything like "Ratatouille" (I know that's about Paris) that takes place in Italy? Kids movies? Maybe "Under the Tuscan Sun" - although it's not a kids movie, it is rated 'G' I think. Or at least is pretty family-friendly.

I think a trip to my local Italian gourmet shop is on the caledar for tomorrow.

Dawn, I really love my Urban Italian cookbook by

(oops, somehow hit enter before I was done!)
the cookbook by Andrew Carmellini - thanks to
Traca for the great interview and drool worthy commentary.

It's hip and on trend, beautiful to read and the recipes.... mmm......

My sister bought it on Amazon for me for Christmas. smileys/bigsmile.gif

Ah, you have to go to arthuravenue.com, the code

for the special is NIAF. 50.00 usually 59.00
You get 5 jars of assorted sauces, they throw in 2 lbs of pasta and ship anywhere in the US FREE. Great deal. The card I got doesn't say when the offer expires smileys/frown.gif you may want to call them.

After doing some surfing, I also thought of a panini press, ravioli molds, or pizzelle iron

hand-rolled pasta maker, pasta pot, etc. Aahh, now the trick is finding something that will fit in the colander/bowl!

Thanks for everyone's help!! Will post what I decide, if you're interested.

Barb and Ang, I did but one of those $10 stovetops ones for myself last week and also yesterday

bought one for the basket. And it was marked down to half-price! Also got the Italian espresso - a small package, but that's good - to go with it. It's the "focal point" of the basket. I always like to have one unusual, nice, kind of pricey item in my baskets so the ticket purchasers will think it's worth it, if only for that item.

I did happen to pass by a half-price panini press at the same store (Wegmans) and it almost killed me not to get it. It was much too large, but was marked down to $24.50 instead of $48.99. That would put my way over budget and I wouldn't have been able to buy much else.

But thanks for the suggestions - they're in there now!
