Okay, I don't even know how to begin to ask this question.

is that not the most beautiful thing on wheels?? how much money do they have invested in those?

remember in the 80s when that "meat substitute" was popular for ground beef? it came in "chubs"

or rolls and we would stretch hamburger with it. It must have been a soy product.

I ended up throwing them out. I started thinking about the chain of hands

that it had been through, and that did it. And after Abby's recent bout, I don't want to take any chances with her. I felt bad about it but everytime I would take it out of the fridge, I would seal it back up and put it back.

I'm coming to this conversation late, but the best ham I've ever had was some that I

bought at the dollar store! 20 ounces of ham "ends and pieces" for $1. Hmm, I think that's 80 cents a pound. I use it when I make scalloped potatoes and it's great copped up with onion and sweet pickle relish as ham salad. My cat loves it when I give him a chunk or two (I rinse it off first before I give it to him).

But thanks for conjuring up the image of how many people probably handled it before it got to the dollar store - ;o) 'Just kidding Dawn.

But these weren't vacuumed sealed, they were in zip loc

type bags. My stepdaughter's mother-in-law gave them to her, she gave them to me, and there was a chain before that. I am the kind of person who cannot get a salad at the salad bar, so I should have known right away that I would not be able to use it.
