We went last night for dinner and ate like Greek Gods.
Stop at the taverna and pick up a bottle of Greek wine, then a plate of Greek appetizers next door (keftetes, domathes, feta, olives, etc.) and have a seat in the dining tents.
Then go through the dinner line for the full dinner. We had the Pastichio and Leg of Lamb dinners (which we of course split). The Pastichio is spiced so wonderfully with just a touch of mint to the other spices. Best I've ever had. The leg of lamb scented with lemon and garlic was falling apart tender. The dinners come with Greek Pilaf, Greek Green Beans (very tasty), Greek Salad, and bread. Everything is homemade and they are literally cooking and baking all weekend.
Other dinners are Greek Chicken, Souvlaki, Moussaka. There are also loads of other things to pick up and eat as you're wandering around watching the greek dancers and music groups: souvlaki, gyros, salads, spanakopita, etc. etc. Again, all homemade by the ladies of the church.
Then, don't forget to go inside for Greek coffee and a sinful box assortment of the Greek Pastries--our box had 2 each of baklava, kataifi, koulorakia, pasta flora, kourambiethes, and melomakarouna (these are my favorite, well, the kourambiethes are too...LOL).
It's hot, but to have this wonderful homemade Greek food available is a treasure.
