I think it's the combination. Waffles tend to be slightly sweet and altho I've never had

packaged waffles I expect they are even sweeter than homemade, most things are. I don't even like cornbread stuffing because it's too sweet for me combined with a savory meat. A slight glaze is ok with savories. ( and I do like Maple syrup) but it seemed bathed in it. I don't in general like very sweet food so it may be a personal taste or my Italian roots where even putting raisins in meatballs is an exotic move.

 
That makes sense to me! Flavor combinations can be very regional or

culturally based.

I've known my in-laws for 15 years, and they still think I am a heretic for putting ketchup on my hot dogs and hamburgers. smileys/smile.gif

 
Terrible Pillsbury Million Dollar Winner

Made this recipe the same day it was announced. YUCK,YUCK! Couldn't eat it, threw it away. What a waste of time and money! What were the judges sniffing? How can anyone be this stupid?
