Pitiful soup needs....something?

yeah, I sometimes do that too, although I usually try to saute it with the onions first. It's just

that the idea of "Stewed Garlic" struck me as being as appealing as "Stewed Prunes" and just as funny.
Once I did throw some garlic into the water with potatoes I was cooking for mashed potaotes and it turned out awful!

I think AmerTest Kit did a comparison on chicken broths and on vegetable broths and

found that there wasn't even one of the veg broths they even thought was palatable.

Add a cup of cream. It has saved every soup that's failed me. The universe will approve.....

sacred cows and all, and so will dieticians, because we're only talking 4 Tbs. fat for the whole pot of redeemed soup.

Um, soup? I got distracted by the picture of the Dulce De Leche Cake with Caramel Frosting over on

the left, there. ;o)

See, that's smart. Sometimes I keep trying to salvage something

and I end up with something that is edible, but not desireable, and then I toss it. I wish I could get it though my skill that it is just better to cut your losses rather than waste more ingredients.

Just noticed and smiled....The rec says it can easily be doubled....Good to know! : ) Should

read that it can easily be left in the fridge to grow mold!

May i add my two cents? Probably too late but here is what I would do

First of all excuse me because I think that is a hideous-sounding recipe. Just my own personal taste getting in the way. Sorry.

But. if I had that in my kitchen to "fix" I would first take a bunch of veggies and meat bones- combo of carrots, celery, onions, garlic, beef and chicken bones- and drizzle with a bit of olive oil and roast them in the oven until brown and lovely. I'd dump them into a pot, add canned chicken broth (low sodium) and a little water and make a great flavorful stock without adding any herbs. I'd strain out both the veggies/bones then the fat and I would reduce the stock to half or less. Then I'd add that to the existing soup. I might puree the leftover veggies and add too. I might even add some dry Potato Buds to it. Then I would fix the seasonings. Fixing something with Sage and sweet potato in it is not that easy but I might add Thyme.

A lot of work for sure but it would probably turn out to be good. By the way, I often make a veggie soup using a base made from a lot of simmered garlic. Handled the right way garlic can be very flavorful cooked in water.

Mar, seriously...all these 'fix-it' helps...perhaps but I have the best fix-it one

Feed it to the pigs and remake the soup...leave out the greens and use the other ingredients for something else...this IS not a recipe that sounds yummy.......ahhhhh...healthy Oh darn...diet...oh darn....OK I'll go away. But please dont make this when I come to dinner smileys/smile.gif
