Please help with holiday meal-as-a-gift for my friend who is on Weight Watchers

We have a good Cuban restaurant here in L.A. called "Havana Mania" of all things *g*

LOVE their ropa vieja and fried plantains. Paella is only so-so though

You LA people are so lucky - lots of food choices. I don't have any good restaurants here, and

not ONE Cuban one. This city is not known for its ethnic restaurants, to say the least. Like I keep saying, I need to move to LA.

When I lived in FL for 7 years, I couldn't find any good restaurants either! But, I was in a

different area than you will be, so it sounds like you could have some good ones around there. I'll expect a full review after you check them out!

Thanks, Sandy. I'll have to check out the Cancun Mexican Cuban Restaurant.

I've eaten at the original Columbian Restaurant in Ybor City, outside of Tampa which was great. The one in St. Petersburg on the pier is awful!!

Considering the Sarasota one is in St. Armand's it should be very good.

We eat Cuban food at Versailles in Culver City, Yum

no atmosphere but good home cooking

Hi Sandy, there's also a little Cuban restaurant in a strip mall at the SW corner of 15th St and

63 Ave. It's nothing fancy and inexpensive.

Have you tried Havana Central at Union Square? It's been three years

or so, but they had a great brunch for a huge wedding party I attended.
