Pyrex used to make a 6 oz custard cup, thin glass with scalloped top edge >>>

When Pyrex was bought out, they changed the design slightly (flat top edge - no scallop) and also changed the formula. The new ones are likely to break in the microwave whereas the old "vintage" ones are amazingly resilient.

Question: does anyone know where you can still get the old vintage ones? I looked at ebay where the prices are pretty reasonable, but they charge upwards of $15 for shipping 6 of them!!

"Round Top" legendary antique and flea mkt near Austin is coming up.

Do you want me to buy some for you if I see them?

You can set up a watch on ebay so when new listings are posted you can check S/H...

This set (link) is only $5 shipped to my zip code -- which is cheap. I sell on ebay from time to time and shipping is expensive. There once was a time when folks upped prices on S/H to make more money (and avoid the ebay fees) but no more/not allowed. One can only charge actual shipping plus a small handling fee for the cost of box etc.

I'd call vintage shops in your area and look for flea mkts, but keeping an eye out on ebay with a watch might end up saving you leg work (and gas $).

I'll never buy anything on ebay again...I found some small pyrex baking dishes at two locations...

I specified that I would only purchase them if they were in perfect condition. Both senders assured me that the dishes were in perfect condition. I bought both sets. One set was perfect, the other had chips on all the dishes. When I complained, the sender accused me of substituting chipped dishes for the ones that they sent me. I was FURIOUS, but they insisted that I was cheating them, and they would "report me" to ebay. There was no way for me to prove that they had sent me chipped dishes.

So, good-bye, ebay, I'll see you later.

Yeah, one a**hole can ruin it for everyone else - hope you left a neg feedback

I buy a lot of items off ebay and only had one problem but it was with a buyer who was clearly trying to make money off the weight of a pair of gold earrings when I clearly said I didn't have a jewelery scale.

If you do ever reconsider check feedback, use paypal, and buy only from folks who take returns. Even if they don't say that in the listing if you email and they agree, ebay/paypal will hold them to it.

The problem with ebay is that they don't allow a "bad" report to be posted on anyone...

It's their "if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all" policy.

Oh, Pat, you're such a sweetheart!! I've always wanted to go to that flea market but

am never visiting at the right time. If I could get the cups for $2 or less, including the shipping, I'd say YES. I figured you can fit a lot of them into a medium priority mail box for $10.95. Say 10 cups (at $1 each) in a medium box, would be slightly over $2 apiece. That would be great. I'd take as many cups as you could fit in the box!!

You're so nice to look for me - I know how fun it is when you have a specific item to look for - thanks!!!

The 'vintage' ones are clear glass... the new ones have a turquoise cast to them and are thicker

It is always more fun when you are on a quest! We usually go just as they are setting up

and then the last day (when folks are giving stuff away!). Next Wednesday through the following Saturday.

You can still post a negative, but the seller gets the last word, but th star ratings hit the seller

in other ways, like in your search rankings and fees. Honestly it's really geared now to the store owners/power sellers. Little ol' declutters like me can list an item and even I have a very hard time finding it doing a search even if I've tested/compared each word in the listing header with keyword rankings, but a good deal can still be had, they're just harder to find.

A major flaw with ebay

is the fact that one cannot really leave negative feedback when this occurs because the perp will immediately retaliate and do the same back to you when you've done nothing. ebay really needs to get involved on disputes and institute binding arbitration in their sales contracts.

I buy a lot of stuff off ebay (just got a 100 year old Bavarian art deco set of Heinrich china, service for 12 (138 pieces), for $50!) and thankfully have only had a few minor problems from a few less than honest sellers. Usually everyone is honest.

But yes, the ebay feedback system is fatally flawed and does not work. It really means nothing.
