Question for a friend about using pasta attachment for KA, is there a way to disengage the beater

mechanism so it doesn't turn while using the attachment? I have the KA but have never used any of the attachments.

Sorry, poor wording, the friend wants to know if there's a way to disengage.

 
I don't know, but I just let it go 'round....

But I think not, I think it's just integral to the turning mechanism.

 
If there is a way, I will feel awfully silly, having let it spin around for years and years.
