Question making the Mabel Hoffman's Slow-Cooker Cassoulet

I made this for a big family dinner I had on Sunday. Everyone LOVED it. I LOVED it too!

The question I have is when I was frying the chicken. How long do you cook the chicken for since you are placing it in the crockpot? Is the idea just to brown it on the outside. I like using the boneless chicken cause I have a spoiled family who do not like the bones in their chicken. LOL I know I brought this on myself.

Thanks to everyone who helped me before and those that are going to give me more guidance on this recipe. It really is appreciated.

Many Blessings to all and Happy Holidays!

Mercy, I have made this recipe many times- it is a favorite at my house

You just brown the chicken, not cook it through. It gives extra depth of flavor to the dish.

By the way, it even has more flavor if you use bone in chicken but it all depends on the size of your crockpot as to whether you can or not.

I'm glad your family liked it!

I know that the bones give more flavor to any dish, not just this one. The problem is the individual

( and there are a few of them)will stick their noses up at it because of the bones. I myself LOVE chicken bones and have no problem with them.

I usually debone the chicken and give it to my dog Daisy who is at my feet drooling. LOL Not just because she is a Bullmassriff either. My immediate family is spoiled and so is my extended family. On my SH side of the family I am the cook (which isn't saying much) since my cooking skills have been aquired by trial and error. I have burnt and ruined many meals. That is why I LOVE this form. I am in AWE at the knowledge here. People are AMAZING and even patent to people like myself who are still learning and growing (even if we should know more then we do, LOL).

Yep, just season and lightly brown the meat...

this is truly a wonderful recipe!! One of our favorites and I've sent it to my son who also loves it! I must say, browning meats/poultry BEFORE slow-cooking seems to really help the results...I do it with most meat-related slow cooker recipes.
