Question Re: Buying a Refrigerator...

The freezer drawer is sturdy enough for adult use...

but when the kids lean their entire weight on it it makes me kind of nervous. There is a sliding drawer inside the freezer so you have two levels, not just stacking everything on top of each other. Mine, the bottom drawer SLIDES out, it doesn't tilt, so I guess some other people have a different kind than I do. The stainless attracts fingerprints but do remember I have three young boys in the house! If I didn't, things would be different.

I liked the counter-depth one too, but with three boys in the house I needed the extra space!

Buying a refrigerator

I was in the appliance business for 18 years and the ONLY refrigerator I ever loved was an "all refer refrigerator". Side by sides were very limited in space. A self defrosting freezer (always accompanies a standard refrigerator) is the worse freezer to have because the defrosting procedure dries out the food in the freezer. IF you are going to store food in a self-defrosting freezer, you must wrap it five times more! Use your manual defrosting freezer for all extended storage of foods. Better yet, the BEST and largest "side by side" ever is an upright self-defrost freezer on the left and an "all refer refrigerator" on the right. Beautiful combination!
