Quinine syrup (from the NYTimes article)

Taste test went very well, although I kept away from the refrigerator magnets just in case.

Shot of gin
Jigger of quinine syrup
Juice from half of a small lemon
LARGE peel of lemon.
Jigger of tonic water
crushed ice

Slightly disappointed to find out the pronunciation is Quinn-een, rather than Kwhy-nine.

Oh well, regardless...I'm ready to take on the malarial-infested African Queen(-een).

I sent out PMs to each of you with my email to send me your address. I can't RESPOND via PM.

Mistral has already emailed me.
I have Richard's address.

I could have Melissa's and Maria's address but don't count on it. Email me anyway.

Elaine, I definitely don't have yours.

Maybe under pressure (even tho the rocker wasn't on it), the water in the PC

came to a boil quicker than the other pot, and boiled longer, "letting off more steam". Hahah.

I've done this when I want a pot of water come to a boil quickly, leaving the weight/rocker off, allowing the pressure to build up a little in the PC. I am always afraid that the water would cause the top to explode if I left the weight on with a lot of water in it ;o)

I emailed you - give a shout if you didn't get it. smileys/smile.gif

That's a good idea, Dawn. Since the lid is metal, I really couldn't see how hard

it was simmering (or maybe boiling away). I just turned both burners to the same notch for heat.
