RECIPE: Rec: Anyone have experience with a refrigerate pie made with ritz crackers (Layered)

RECIPE:
He's pretty reliable and if he says it is like key lime, I'd trust it. I've had other desserts

with similar ingredients and they were good, IMO.

Layering with crackers is an old-style technique

Years ago refrigerated layered desserts were de rigueur. And what's old is new again once more. I've used club crackers, ritz crackers and saltines in the past building layers and the ritz crackers always won because of the extra flavor they have. This recipe looks pretty darn good to me. Go for it, Deb!

ANyone remember the old 'apple' pie made with Ritz rather than apples? I never made it but

do think I ate it once and was shocked at the flavour that was so similar. Of course, I could never figure out the motivation to skip the apples.

I recall recipes made with layered crackers. Graham wafers was one. Yikes, that was such a long time ago.

I was served it once many years ago and was shocked to hear the “apples” were crackers.

They tasted like apples. I was also grossed out by the idea of eating crackers in a crust, lol. Not sure where it originated, but have a cookbook that says it goes back to mid-1800s.

I tasted it this morning, and although way to sweet for me - I think the guests will love it

(It's the 2 cans of sweetened cond. milk that was too much for me)
