Ha! No recipe indeed. My mom got a lot of grief from that. Hey, 'possum might be better.And

the funny thing is, she wouldn't have touched that roasted raccoon with the proverbial 10 ft pole!

We had those, also. Sorry to say, I never tasted them. I was such a wimp!

You all must have different possums than us - they'll tear you apart!

They are slow but they are MEAN! I would rather deal with just about anything else. DD saw some at the edge of the woods when she was little and we just barely caught her before she reached down to pet it. I'm always fearful of the dog running up to one.

Not long ago I heard this noise on the deck and knew one of our resident critters was up on the deck messing with my grill. Turned the light on and it was a possum. I took this square yard stick that is pretty sturdy to try and chase him off the grill and deck. I hit the grill and he mosied on over to the railing. I tried to knock him off the railing but he just wrapped that nasty ole tail around the railing and hissed at me that much more. Next jab and he almost fell over forward. I looked down and realized that I was barefoot and decided to leave him alone to protect my toes.
