I make both kinds, both with marshmallow and without. This was my grandmother's recipe and she made it all her life. It's really good. For those who don't know...old fashioned fudge isn't as 'soft' as the marshmallow fudge and has a different texture.
Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge
Butter sides of heavy pan (or large skillet)
and add:
3 cups sugar
1 cup evaporated milk - or half and half
3/4 cup light corn syrup
Cook to Soft Ball stage, remove from heat and add:
1/2 stick butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup peanut butter
Mix well and beat until it begins to lose it's shine. Quickly pour into buttered pan.
