Shortcut Sesame Noodles

This is so easy that we make it a lot for potlucks.

1 lb spaghetti, cooked and drained

Mix with:

½ cup Soy Sauce

¼ cup Sesame Oil

½ tsp. Cayenne pepper

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 bunch of scallions, sliced

¼ cup sesame seeds, toasted

Let sit for 24 hours in the fridge before serving. Enjoy!

You will get a much more sesame-ie flavor with the toaste BUT. . .

Use maybe 2 or 3 tbsp of toaste and make the rest regular oil.

Actually, I make a version of this and only use 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil and it is wonderful. Toasted sesame oil is very strongly flavored. Buy it and keep it in the fridge for freshness. If you buy is at an Oriental store, it will be MUCH cheaper than a regular store, if you think you will be using it regularly.

Remember a quarter cup is only 4 tablespoons. . .

But I think 4 tablespoons of toasted sesame oil is too much for even a whole pound of pasta or noodles.

So what is toasted sesame oil, where do I get it and how can I make it?

I do use toasted sesame seeds, though.

Mia, it's the dark sesame oil. Sometimes it won't say "toasted

but you can tell by the dark color.

LOL at least you didn't convince yourself that you were addressing the right person >>>>

Like I did with Cyn and Dawn! smileys/smile.gif

Wow, I just got an education! Thank you, Marg, Meryl and Ruth! I never realized there were so many

different kinds of sesame oil. I'm Asian and have always bought my sesame oil/sesame seeds/soy sauce, etc. at the Asian market -- never knew it was toasted, though!

My mom and grandmother cooked EVERYTHING in sesame oil and it was such a staple of my childhood. I may just be used to/prefer the overwhelming taste of toasted sesame oil in foods.
Very interesting.

Thanks for sharing the information -- and not making me feel like such a total idiot. After the responses, I thought -- I may never be able to muster the courage to post again!
