Hi there... Some additions
Hi everybody, here are some additional restaurants in San Francisco that would be fun to check out
Near the hotel Nikko is Jasper's corner tap, Great cocktails and bar food.
Off market and 4th in the Palomino hotel is the Fifth floor restaurant, some of the finest cuisine I have had plus they have a $25 burger bourbon beer deal using luxury ingredients aged Bourbon and local.
The Wayfare Tavern is a fun place to go, it's Tyler Florence's restaurant in the financial district. Amazing fried chicken.
On California Street is Perbacco and Barbacco, plus the venerable Tadich Grill - one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
If you go to North Beach which is a fun area of town you must go to Tony's, it is relatively new and although I haven't been able to get there myself my friends are completely addicted.
On Polk Street is swan oyster Depot, open for lunch and you have to wait in a long line but it's completely worth it and try to get the Olympia oysters, they were just written about in Smithsonian magazine, they were Mark Twain's favorite oysters and the only place that serves them in San Francisco, and the place has been around almost that long.
Instead of Gary Danko I would highly recommend Benu or Sons and Daughters for innovative Modernist cuisine. They are not cheap, but incredible.
Incanto and Contigo are two wonderful places over on Church Street/Noe Valley.
State bird provisions is also an amazing place on Fillmore Street near Japantown. Up Fillmore Street is an incredible Indian place but fusion, Dosa. That section of Fillmore is fun to walk around too lots of shops and bars and cute restaurants.
There are tons of nice places in the Marina and on Union St. but I think this list is long enough.
We are having one of the coldest summers ever so far, average temperature 56° during the day. Bring lots of layers and light wool and be prepared to shed layers during the day and add in the evening. The scarf is a must like a pashmina. If you want sunshine all you have to do is cross the bridge. Today the fog was so thick that it was actually like rain. But we love our fog though, and it gives us a good excuse to eat whatever we want regardless of the season. Stew in the summer, yes!
If you want you can private message me your email address and I can help you out if you have questions while you're here.
Hope everyone is well, I miss hanging out here but I cannot cook for myself right now after my ankle surgery. I have three more weeks to go lying in bed with my foot up in the air.
