This year I have sweet basil (in profusion)

Thai basil

Holy basil

Lime basil (also in profusion)

Mrs. Burns lemon scented basil

Cinnamon basil

African blue basil

Red Rubin basil

Osman basil

And of course my most favorite: Rathbone basil.

among other things i plan to have many interesting salads.

i know that there are more varieties of basil out there but i didn't wanna appear ostentaceous.

OMG!!! Image, please! The only time I have been aroud

that much basil was overlooking Montery Bay at a friend's house and thee basil looked like bushes surrounding their patio! I would be so grateful to have that. Will you post an image?

I have two pots of basil on my deck, and .....

one has four "stems" in it, and its sweet. The other has two stems in the pot, and its "cinnamon". Both were raised in the greenhouse and were awesome when I bought them and carried them home. I put them on my deck, and we have had precious little sun since. In fact, its been pretty cold for basil.

Now, the big pot has only two plants left that even look decent! The little pot is pretty well gone. I thought about bringing them inside, but, I think even that will not work.

Oh well, I am jealous of your deck and its contents rvb, and I hope Fred Meyer's (Kroger) has it fresh in the produce section this week so I can use some of it with my vine ripened, greenhouse tomatoes and the fresh Costco Mozz. cheese.

Actually we have a local greenhouse here that does tomatoes pretty well. But even they are late this year for some reason.

Enjoy your crop, and thanks for sharing the pics. I would show you my pathetic "crop" but I have not done the Flicker thing yet.

rvb, how'd you link the Photobucket site, without us having to log in?

I gotta try that instead - it'll be easier!

I figured you couldn't link it directly, cause someone would have to log in the photobucket site, but your link went straight to your pictures!

i just set up my own account. it's free.

if you have any problems just ask. it seemed pretty straight forward.

sadly they need a lot of sun. but i bet you have...

a lot less crime than the washington dc area.

Just gorgeous! My favorite breakfast is toast with

tomatoes, basil, cracked pepper and white balsamic vinegar! I could eat basil with every meal, and would enjoy tasting varieties!

I go next door to the school and cut rosemary from their landscaping. Tip...

...always cut from the interior/middle of a big bush. Otherwise you risk cutting herbs that have been *used* by people walking their dogs.
