Sams or Costco, which do you prefer?

I use COSTCO more than Sam's, but each has it's points. However our

Sam's Club carries more "junk" food. Each carries slightly different things and as was mentioned earlier, location around the country matters too.

No, we use different multi-vitamins, but he buys niacin and COQ10 from Sam's club. Think there are

other supplements also, such as glucosamine and MSM, I don't pay attention, he researches and I swallow what he puts in my vit container, lol.

Costco services & employees are great!!!.....

They offer thos same types of services such as the internet hosting and website building and they give you free tools to build your website and all kinds of stuff.

I really do think that Costco treats their employees better because they are the nicest, happiest people I meet on a regular basis. As I said in the other post about Costco, I KNOW these people and some have virtually become friends.

I have had memberships to both at the same time and each time, I wind up letting Sam's go. I find one or two items there that I don't find at Costco but it's not worth it. (One of those two times it was free to compete with the newly opened Costco) The quality and overall satisfaction at Costco far surpasses that of Sam's. They even feel 'cleaner' and 'nicer' than a Sam's.

Gretchen - glad to see I am not the only one that goes looking for Costco when I travel. I pick up cool things that our store doesn't get. And it's gotten me out of jams on more than one trip. We've shopped them from coast to coast and even in the UK. Our card wouldn't work in the UK and they don't take AmEx in the UK but they were so nice and accomodating and got such a thrill out of their US shoppers that we were treated like royalty.

Missy, Gretchen... what was the UK Costco like? Which one did you go to?

I go visit my in-laws in the Durham/Newcastle area regularly and just saw there's one in Gateshead. Must check it out next time I'm there. I didn't know they were over there!

Candy. LOTS of candy in packages for resale. Canisters of candy. Lots like cookies, ...

high fat foods like chips, cookies. etc.

The one in Reading because we had just left Windsor...

when DH decided the one pair of shoes he bought really weren't that comfortable after all and needed new shoes.

It really felt quite similar just with different merchandise. My daughter fell in love with a metal framed loft bed and wanted to see if we could get it shipped back to the US (yeah right). They had whole cases of Cadbury flake bars and Kinder eggs which she loves. The athletic shoes came out to about $13 which is what they sold for over here. He swears the Champion socks he got over there were heavier duty than the ones we get here. But it was basically arranged almost identical to the stores here. They were super nice and thought it was so funny that we were shopping at Costco on our vacation. Your card may or may not work there but they will take care of you. HOWEVER, at the time, they did not take American Express over there and I can't remember what card they did take besides one that was 'unique' to Europe so we had to pay cash. They said they were in the process of gettin American Express and that was gosh now that I think about it - almost 5 years ago.

No Amex yet!

I can pay either cash or with debit card -

I have never been to one in the States, but from what you guys say, you have a much better selection - my biggest treat is Chicken of the Sea tuna at £7 (almost $14) for 6 cans, the little ones... sometimes it's worth paying the import prices, it's the only place they have it...

I go to the one in Watford but I suspect the ones in the North are probably very similar...
