and my husband and I couldn't stop mmmmmmming. I used sashimi grade tuna, mixed it with sirachi and mayo. I layered the rice first, then a sliced ripe avocado layer, the tuna mixture, a sprinkling of tobiko and then thinly sliced green onions. YUM!!! Thanks for the technique of this recipe, it makes it so easy. If I had anymore tuna left, I would make it for lunch again today!

Oh wow, snow is piling up and decided might not leave house today. need to make a tuna and avocado!

We made this on Christmas Day too! Had a fresh Dungeness crab, so we cooked that up...

Mixed the crab with mayo, layered it with avocado, and julienned cucumbers. Woulda used tobiko, but forgot to buy it at the store.

Then we just got some freshly caught ahi the other day, so we had the spicy tuna version too (our tuna mixture was the same as yours, plus a coupla drops of sesame seed oil).

Yours looks fab! (Do the kids eat it?)

Dungeness Crab-check! Avocado...no. Ahi tuna-check! Tobiko - Yeah right...

Remember where I live?? Maybe tomorrow is a good day to run to Chico. Chances of acquiring tobiko are significantly higher in Chico. Even if I have to do it by ordering tobiko nigiri to go!

Believe me, I know.

The people who make the sushi at the grocery store were nice enough to sell me some, which I froze, along with a huge pack of nori. I can find the tubes of wasabi, which works for me. The only sashimi grade fish I can find is tuna, but that is just fine and dandy with me. We have a Benihana type restaurant here in town, and they have an excellent sushi bar there. So when I am craving yellowtail or some other kind, that is where I head. It cost me about $10 to make the spicy tuna pie plate, not bad at all.

They prefer the non-spicy version, but I am working on them.

I am slowing introducing spicier things to them. I will have them eating habaneros eventually. smileys/wink.gif

SCORE!! We had a 50-50 plate...half spicy ahi and half crab...

I made a layer of the rice, mixed wasabi with mayo and sesame oil and spread that over the rice (smelled heavenly), thin slices of avocado went down next, followed by spicy tuna (mayo, siracha, toasted sesame oil) for one side, and mixed Dungeness crab with mayo, sesame oil and green onions on the other side. The tuna side was garnished with diced cucumber and the crab side with more thinly sliced green onion. I only used half of my rice and it made so much we couldn't finish it all. I'm thinking lunch...oh yeah!
This needs to go to the T & T Board!!

Isn't it delish! I think you are number two to rave, we need one more.

I think I am going to make this for lunch today too.

Sandi posted it though, and I thought we had to have three other people rave?

I can never remember. So if it is three counting Sandi, then please put it in the TandT's Sandi!
P.S. Joe, The delivery for the co-op is on Friday, so I will get your legumes out next week.

LOL! I can't remember either. The directions under the T&T heading just say:

"These forums are for recipes that have been tried by at least 3 members and have been hailed as very good." I think that just means three people, period. Did we discuss somewhere that it needed to be the poster, plus three people trying it?
