Sandra's confession got me to thinking. What is your favorite cheat ingredient?

Pureed tomatoes, pesto, and something called "Cerveno Zlato" or "Red Gold"...

...which is a painfully hot Hungarian pepper sauce in a tube. A dot of it is great in marinara.

Actually, most of the pastes sold in toothpaste-esque metal tubes, here, from horseradish to about twenty varieties of mustard, are great for cheating.

cheezz, the response I got...the only place it's sold in CA is La Jolla Open Air Market, in case you

find yourself in that area.

Pat...

that is my old Farmer's Market that I was at before I started at the Hillcrest Market on Sundays. And there was a vendor there that sold his own olive oil (and it was great), olives and some imported tinned products from his home country, which I believe was Greece. I will bet that is who is selling it. The only other vendor would be the couple that sell fresh pastas and such. But I think it is the olive oil booth.

Any brand that has tomatoes as the first ingredient (not water and tomato paste) and no high

fructose corn syrup is probably pretty good. I need to try the one Charlie recommends. The Del Grosso is about $8.00 a jar, that's why I only buy it when it's buy one/get one free.
