Saturday six....

And invite who. They're all scattering now, tomorrow was supposed to be

"the" one and only family day.

I just hate people that are so self-centered... one of my biggest pet peeves. I mowed the lawn this afternoon and got my anger out (better than eating, huh?!).

We (immediate family) are doing something tomorrow night instead... a drive-in (one of the last in the country) triple feature, but we'll only stay for 2. We try and do that once a year, and will do that with or without the out-of-towners.

Saturday six

My neighbor is flooding my backyard and I'm peeved. he either overwaters or his water feature is leaking. If I have standing water again tomorrow---we will be having another "discussion" I'm afraid to go down to check the crawlspace.

baked a half batch of Ina's Zabar's pecan shortbread into hearts for a wedding shower gift tomorrow. iced 1/2 heart in dark chocolate. turned out so nice.

shopped for a wedding outfit for Hawaii and came home empty handed. must be a sign that I will find something in my closet to wear---if it fits. grrrrr

just ate 3 small tortillas, grilled over the open flame and spread with homemade jam---curse that crepe thread.

watched Out of Africa, again. such beautiful music.

my neighbor offered me a freshly caught red salmon and I turned it down. what's up with that?

How about inviting all of the cousins (kids and all?) and then they

can mingle with their own age group while you have fun with the ones you chose. Or maybe that would be too many...

Hi Colleen,

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend. I am amazed at how many people have broken their wrists. It's that instict to protect your head. The therapy will help a lot. Take it easy on that wrist of yours for a little bit. Don't over do it. A nice walk next to a river sounds wonderful!

The procrastinator's Sunday Six

1. Tried a French recipe, this morning, for apple pancakes. Very good!

2. Dry-rubbed ribs are in the fridge. They'll go into the oven, on low, for a couple of hours, for lunch. It's an experiment; I've never made ribs before...

3. Going to a Whole Foods "customer panel" at their Union Square store, this week. If nothing else, it should be an interesting mix of folks. smileys/smile.gif

4. It didn't occur to me until this week that I need to test about 40 recipes for this family-recipe blog...by September. smileys/wink.gif

5. Have to figure out what to make for the NY food bloggers' picnic, next Saturday.

6. Did a phone interview for an editorial-assistant position for a food site. (No, not any of the big ones.) The job involves cooking/testing a lot of food products that arrive. OH, and possibly fixing broken HTML code. It was a lot more fun to write a resume for this job than any other, lately... smileys/bigsmile.gif

Happy weekend! Excited to see what the next incarnation of this forum looks like (though I hope the format doesn't change--I love it, this way). smileys/smile.gif

I'll give you an "ouch", also. Glad you're healing and thanks for mentioning the Angus burgers, I

picked some up. I've never bought pre-cooked hamburgers before and thought they'd make a good quick lunch. And when I was looking at them and pondering, a young man who was also buying them, said "They're really good!" So thanks again, without your post, I'd have never thought to look for them.

Go for it Pat...

It is only shakes and I am tired of 'no cooking'...but I dont feel the need to eat really, just to chew something now and then. They have 'bars' which are not nice (of course) 'cept for the malt one...I like a bite, that's enough, every other day or so....I am STUCK on a plateau and WANT to loose a couple LBS tonight...wont happen but I'm getting antsy...good luck.

I remember reading about one that had been in a family for generations, must be it. Wish they had a

site for ordering.
