Saturday Six

So sorry, Missy. I would send a memorial contribution to his favorite charity or organization in his

name. People do send flowers to memorial services, but I have no idea what the family does with them afterwards, since there is no graveside service. Maybe a live plant? Or a tree the family could plant somewhere for his memory.

My cousin passed away a couple of months ago and there were arrangements on the altar, even

though it was just a memorial service. Good point about there being no site at which to put them afterwards though. I never thought about it until now. Maybe they left a couple for the church service the next day and the immediate family took them home to - uh, enjoy?

Sorry about his passing Melissa. Have a cherry wine in his honor and toast to the good memories. The family will appreciate whatever you and DH do.

Eva, my heart goes out to you...

This is beautiful: She was one of my foodie friends, and she loved everyone around her - and was never afraid to let people know how much she cared for them.

I had a friend who would physically bristle every time I'd leave her with a hug & tell her how much I treasured our friendship. Her reaction was so strong...it made me hesitate telling others how much they meant to me. Thankfully I got over that! smileys/smile.gif

Sending love & hugs your way...

My Saturday Six

1.Up early to start cooking - made Hariria stew
since it is raining and raining finally.
2. Had to run out to the only all night grocery
to get some stuff since I spent Fri. babysitting granddaughter with flu. Daughter, 9 months, pregnant has had to move in with us.
3. Did some shopping for granddaughter and son-in law and babysat while son in law went to rugby
4. Home again, prepared to cook a zuccini veg. dish and something with chopped meat.
5. Daughter suggested we go to a movie and so
we did - Julia and Julie for my second time. (Enjoyed it again.) Didn't cook.
6. Bought yummy Sicilian ice cream on the way home and we had that for dinner!!

My son said one of the boys asked Mrs. Warner what talents Kurt had besides football.

She said when they are at the store and she can't find an item like salt, she asks him and he tells her what isle it's on and which shelf.

Everyone laughed!

Michael

Thanks everyone - he was 92 & we expected it for the last few years

It hasn't really been too sad at least not yet. DH doesn't handle things like this well. I think when he gets up there is when it's going to be hard for him. I'm off to the grocery to finish up my traveling food package.
