serrano pepper burn, need advice ASAP I just peeled a roasted serrano without gloves

Well, just remember that it only feels like it is burning. . . (more)

Once I made the mistake of hand chopping 5 lbs (Pounds!) of heat stressed, home-grown jalapenos. Nothing made the burn go away for me. I tried oil, milk, all sorts of stuff. I finally just sat around with my fingers in water and in a couple of hours it was more tolerable.

Wait, you might want to try using Goop, that stuff that mechanics use to wash their hands of auto grime. It *might* work. If it does, please let me know.

If you cannot wash/rinse/rub the chile burn away, make sure you put a glove on the hand to keep from spreading the burn to other parts of your body, like you eyes or other tender places!

somehow, cleaning them under running water sent the oils to the back of my hands.

I posted, figuring I'd get help here. the milk was nice and cool but didn't stop the burnng. yougurt was next, still, felt good but didn't stop. then took a nail brush and soap and scrubbed (this was after the aloe) continued with aloe and finally, after some hand cream, it was fine.

I do consider myself lucky it wasn't a lot worse, all things considered.

and.... all things considered, the recipe should have mentioned not to clean the pepper without golves annd.... it was an OK chile but not something I would make again.... bummer.

oh sweetie, 5 lbs..... owwwie! that had to take a long time to cool down. lucky you didn't rub your eyes or anything else.

this is probably more info than you wanted but I've had a couple of glasses of wine and the winds are starting up again. we are very safe in this house but there is something so basic and raw with storms like these that just awes you and scares the beegeezus out of you at the same time.

the house is warm, all the cats are in for the night and we have power so we won't miss Desperate Housewivs... life is good! smileys/smile.gif

With all those chilies, standard delivery will be fine!

No self-respecting organism will set up shop in that dish!
Sounds very yummy!

We currently have about 4" of snow on the ground. I was awakened around 5:30 by the sound of snowblower next door.

Now I need to decide if trying to get to work is a good thing.

you need to get a generator so you can at least hook up your TV!

If cable is out, you could still get local, maybe, for you desperate housewives desperate fix. then hook up the refrig and freezer smileys/smile.gif
