Me too....years ago when I was testing recipes for Linda Stradley's cookbook

I made a recipe for 5 way chili and it called for adding raw onions to the dish....no need to saute. I was amazed and have since used that method to many things that did not call for a long cooking time to achieve a golden brown. Saves a messy step for me.
