So glad I got a freezer

Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how much the freezer I bought last June is selling for today, one year later, at the same store, Costco. The price has increased 54%! Holee cow!

I looove having a full size freezer. So happy I invested in it. I’m able to freeze things I find on sale and prep in my souper cubes I got in tandem w the freezer. My fridge freezer is so small I basically had to buy/use everything fresh. Now I have a selection of of too lazy/hot to cook pizzas I pop into my countertop oven I keep in the garage w the freezer. Nothing heating the house during a heatwave. Now if only I can find king salmon on sale…

What fortunate timing. I'm still waiting to hear about your first iced cake experience.

There are so many more senior citizens shopping at the discount grocery store than ever before. I only shop in two aisles: dairy for brand name butter and STOK cold brew coffee (48 oz for $1.50-$2 versus $7 at Publix. Then I use BOGO organic creamers and/or cold foam >> My large iced coffees cost less than a $1 for the same $5 -$6 at Dunkin).

The other aisle is baking. I recently found 21 oz jars of Bonne Maman cherry pie filling for $2.99 ($10.99 at Publix) & bought six!

What I DON'T buy is meat, because I'm concerned why it's so much cheaper than Publix or Ingles. I don't eat much meat anyway, but I've seen senior citizens fill their carts with pork (mostly pork) and Angus beef, which is on sale every Tuesday. Since I was disappointed in the taste of the small $18 steak I bought at Publix a few months back, I can't imagine what cheaper meat tastes like.

I do buy the chicken thighs, ground beef, and sometimes bacon there (at grocery outlet, I just got home from there). All get a critical reading of type/where from/etc. I haven’t seen the pie filling, but they had some of their jam, I didn’t look at the price because I actually went there to get my Smuckers strawberry jam because it’s cheaper than even Walmart. I found you have to start paying attention to the prices even at these type of stores. For example, I was going to get hotdog buns and they used to be fairly inexpensive here, not Walmart inexpensive, but decent and now they are practically Safeway prices so I put them back.

I did end up going to Safeway because I was picking up stuff for tuna sandwiches for the twins, and I wanted to get them organic. Even at Safeway, the organic pickings were slim. I wanted butter lettuce for me and they didn’t have it. The albacore packed in oil, which they didn’t have at grocery outlet (they had in water) was only a few pennies more at Safeway not on sale.

i often compare prices on store apps before shopping so know what to get where. For example apparently Safeway no longer sells ff milk except in plastic, I used to get carton. Plastic milk and cream is my line in the sand. I got milk at grocery outlet even though they didn’t have ff, but I got low fat in a glass bottle. Glass is my fav, but I will do cartons. Somehow those plastic milk jugs are just a hard no for me. I will go to a different store.
