Depends on where in California...

As of today we have 20 confirmed cases and the number goes up every day. The county first issued all older/compromised people should avoid large gatherings. Today they advised all large gatherings be canceled. This includes professional sports (though nhl did play) and are asking employers to stagger work hours to avoid crowds. Also, as of now we don’t have testing kits. One husband/wife went to the press today because they were sick and in contact with a confirmed case. Later today had to go to the hospital.

So, not to be an alarmist, but I would consider canceling or wait till test kits are distributed to have an idea on how bad the outbreak might be in the area you are going.

 
Our province's schools have just cancelled all Spring Break trips and the gov is recommending,

officially, that people not travel at all, even just around N. America.

Some of these poor kids had dream trips to Italy in the works. That would hurt.

Better to be safe.

I think that even public transport is a risk right now.

 
Ha! You could seal us in here for 6 months...

and we'd be just fine as long as the electric and water stayed on.

We could go another 6 months and still be alive, but the diet would be pretty slim and grim.
