So ironic - just as I was looking over a recipe for the 1st course for Fri. nite dinner,

elaine

Well-known member
when the sirens went off. All is well - the irony is that it was posted by Hiba in Dhahran , Saudi Arabia on the old swap.

I am definitely making it tomorrow night in hopes that it will symbolize some kind of an end to this insanity.

Hopefully, I will have enough time out of the little space i have made "safe" in my apartment.

Oh Elaine!! Will be thinking of you and your family, especially during your friday night dinner.

I often think of Hiba. When I first started on the swap I was in

Jeddah and I was intrigued who she is. Be safe Elaine.

No Karen,

E in S.F. is another Elaine (with whom I had the distinct pleasure of working under, doing pastry, at a fine dining restaurant in Berkeley a few years back). Two different Elaines, both of whom have been around since the early years at the swap.

Thanks Pat...this week I made E in SF beef broth, then the Beef Bourguignon recipe

very excellent recipes. where is she now?

Dinner was moved to my daughters as she has more safe space

than I do. It was fabulous. I went all out middle eastern food which I just felt I had to do. Hiba's Fattah Humus was delicious- a great appetizer or part of first course which is what I did. I served it with falafel, humus, tehina, tabbouleh,
and grilled eggplant salad - all of which I picked up at local
shops. I added a mushroom quiche.
For the main course we had Moroccan Harira which is a totally filling soup.
The most amazing thing was driving home. Tel Aviv on a friday nite is so busy, so bustling and it takes me anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour to park. Tonight traffic was
light and even though there was a new James bond movie at the cinema around the corner - there were so many parking places.
Let's hope for a sleepful night. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts.
