So over it

My husband made poached salmon last night, salmon from Whole Foods, recipe from Scoma's in San Franc

isco, Poached Salmon in Champagne Sauce. Delicious. We have to do the turkey on Christmas - the family can't "get over" the tradition. I'm pretty tired of the same old stuff.

WORST Thanksgiving ever!.....

GYN dock questioned interal medicine docs presciptions and changed them and the last week I have gotten progressively worse and now cannot stand to walk or stand any more than absolutely necessary.

So dear hubby gets a fried turkey from a charity and it had to be the WORST ever turkey - even that processed stuff we used to get at school was better than this! It was just the three of us so daughter helped by making the mashed potatoes, it was canned cranberry sauce this year and I already had some turkey stock in the freezer to make the gravy. Still, nothing could make this meal edible because of the turkey - dry beyond belief and tasted like they fried all several hundred turkeys in one fryer in one batch of oil that was WAY overheated the whole time. I even found the neck and all the innerds still stuffed in the cavity - thank goodness they weren't in a bag (or were they?).

And DH came down with a full blown case of the flu/cold on Tuesday so we've ALL be in this house together WAY too long.

And like Earnie, I'm craving seafood and everything BUT turkey. I threw the rest of the turkey away - wasn't even worth trying to find another use for it.

Thanks for the thoughts!...

I went to work today but was so swollen I barely got my shoes on then I got to work only to find out the only elevator was broken - all day.

But when I told the story about the turkey, heads started popping up over cubicles and people were rolling laughing. As we decided, if the neck and innerds were still in the cavity, it means that somwhere along the line the plastic bag they were in fried to pieces. No wonder the oil (and hence turkey) tasted so burnt - it was burnt plastic!

Well, I had coconut shrimp and chopped salad on Monday and Thai chicken lettuce wraps beach side

today on the north shore. Cathy's yummy turkey sandwiches carried us over on Friday. It's back to the frigid north this Friday, sob.

Perfect!

So many great ideas to try. Thanks everyone.

Heather in SF, the Fontina, Prosciutto, and Caramelized Onion Pizza you suggested was a hit. Pat in NoCal we love clams and linguine so I plan to try that this weekend.

Randi, the Roasted Cod with Spinach and Clam Sauce was IT. I am still drooling. I have been into making mixed flours sour dough breads lately so this was perfect. Thank you.

Val in FLA, the Gingered Greens with Tofu is another one that has my favorite flavors in it.

Earnie
