Spice/Herb Online Order Resources?

I used to buy all my supplies through Penzeys, but I just looked at their ever-soaring prices and decided I could do much better elsewhere.

Has anyone tried Mountainrose.com out of Eugene OR? Their prices are around half of Penzeys.

Any other sources for good quality and economic bulk? I don't want to pay for jars and bottles, just the herbs in the bag so I can refill my existing containers.

TIA!

Our co-op orders from Mountain Rose and Frontier for our herbs and spices.

We have been very happy with both. I know we order wholesale from Frontier, but I don't think we do with Mountain Rose. I will find out.

Thanks! Wholesale doesn't matter for me since I'm just buying formyself...

I got a good vibe from the web site, but I'm such a sceptic. One never knows if the words and pictures add up to what they're saying. Usually not.

I'll give Mountain rose a try.

I like the Savory Spice Shop folks (but I'm biased--they're from Denver). Very fresh

...and extremely good quality. I'm not sure how the pricing compares to Penzey's, but I know they will ship in plastic bags.

ETA: The shipping cost makes it a little silly for anything but an order with at least 4 or 5 items, however.

Thanks, Joe! Their spices are at least 1/4 of Penzey's prices, plus I just checked out their Herbes

de Provence - it's $3.00 for 8 oz, as compared to Penzey's $21.45!!!!!
Unfortunately, they don't carry Fines Herbes, which is one of the blends I use often.

Wow, great prices!

Unfortunately some of the quantities are a bit large. But, with the prices that low I can give it away. 1 lb. Fenugreek $2.20 ($11.20 at P's), 1 lb. tellicherry peppercorns $5.35 ($12.30 at P's).

Thanks for the info.
