Started holiday cookie baking this weekend and the planets were aligned

I bought some from Sur La Table and some from a bakery supply

place. I did not notice a difference in them. Bought them last year so I don't remember if there was a price difference either. Sorry yours didn't work!

I mix the dust with vodka for painting on chocolate as well, but

if you just want a shimmer, then you can use it dry.

Don't be shy Barbara...

They're really not that tough, if you read through them a few times, you'll see they are very methodical -

SOmetimes if I find a recipe that looks a bit intimidating, I read it through and then write it out in my own terms and then go from there...

We used luster dust a lot at Cookies By Design...

...and in my experience it's best to have a good surface for it to cling to. Stirring the sesame seeds together with the dust is probably the easiest way to do it, but I'd probably modify the recipe to give the cookies a different surface to use the dust on. I do like the idea of the seeds themselves being dusted, though... hmmm... I've gotta think on this. smileys/smile.gif

I'd maybe make a flatter cookie instead of balls, put a firm but light glaze on, dust them individually with a paint brush (labor intensive, but it works well), and then... no, that wouldn't work... *laughing* My brain is gonna figure this out, yep. I really like the idea of the seeds themselves being sparkly.
