Superbowl.... I don't think I saw a thread. What's on the menu?

cheeseburger on a bun! (DH only)

I think we're gonna be sick......and sorry!

I am making Food 52 one pan chicken and cabbage, both marinated

cauliflower mash with fresh roasted garlic (loving this stuff, now that I know how to do it right) and some sort of salad, which will have oranges in it, because we are overloaded with them right now.

I am also going to make an old fashioned clam dip for us to nibble on during the game which we only watch the commercials and half time. We plan to enjoy the fire place, peace and quiet, and good food.

I do something similar and call it Tamale Pie...

I do a thin layer of cornbread with masa, then layers of meat, salsa, chiles, cilantro, cheese, then another layer of the masa cornmeal batter on top to cover, smooth it over to seal the cracks, bake. Very popular.

I stopped at the local grocery on the way home from the gym to pick up steaks and some other supplies.

20YO Perky Nerdboy Cashier: HI! How are you today! Are you gettin' ready for the Super Bowl!!! (I was waiting for a "golly gee whiz" but I guess that's old fart language.)

R: No. I have no interest in it.

20:

R: I usually go to the movies on Super Bowl Sunday. It's a great day to have the theatre to yourself.

20: Cool! The new Star Wars movie is still out, you gonna see that?

R: No. We're staying in to have a Bette Davis Festival and eat our grilled steaks.

20: Who's she?

R:

20: Is she a new singer?

R: No. She is the greatest film actress of the 20th Century.

20: Oh.

Richard, my mom used to make the best Tamale Pie ever, in a big blue and white roaster

She incorporated the cornmeal into the tamale pie, so there was no clumps of it. It also had big black olives in it.. Delicious
