Well another annual Thanksgiving family reunion has wrapped up: (for personal reasons this needed to be held a week before the actual Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.).

Secondly this menu needed to be simple as it was Day 2 of the reunion and I had very little time to prep:

My menu:

Cranberry Champagne Cocktail (Pat NoCal) these were a huge hit!

Roquefort and walnut shortbread (Leite’s Culinaria)

Cheese log surrounded with crackers, olives, nuts and pumpkin seeds

Beef tenderloin with Red Wine Sauce (Deb in MI)

Potato salad

Couscous with pistachios, apricots and cinnamon - Epicurious

Mixture of Baked Beans

Greens with walnuts, celery, cranraisins and shaved parmesan – vinaigrette

Small buns

Tiramisu (from a caterer –in the shape of a cake – lovely)

Frozen vodka with white chocolate syrup – shooters

The vodka bottle was frozen with berries and flowers surrounding it – and was beautiful!!

(Martha Stewart)

I was very “thankful” that all six of my sisters and brothers came home with their families. We were 28 in total.

Also very “thankful” to all who helped from this site. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Betty

Sounds lovely. I'd love to try the couscous--will look for the recipe

Unfortunately, my family objects if I introduce anything new. I end up being the only one who eats it.

We always used to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving (Mom was Canadian). Maybe I'll do a mini-dinner in her honor this year...

I have wanted to make that ice covered vodka bottle for some time---how did you pour from it? was

it difficult to handle?

I inserted one of those metal spouts. I folded a napkin and wrapped

that around the bottle while pouring.

We actually had a couple of variations in the shot glasses - white chocolate; in another vanilla syrup with a drop of grenadine. We poured half syrup and half vodka - and stirred.
