It's all about options and freedom of choice...
YOU have the option to order a small burger at 5 Guys...
YOU have the option of ordering a smaller drink than the Big Gulp
YOU have the option of filling up a plate or bowl with as much cereal or pasta as you want, wether or not the plate is bigger - that same bowl that is made for the US market could also be filled with a huge salad, no? or a larger serving of whole wheat pasta with plain tomato sauce...
YOU have the option of cutting the larger chicken breast to fit your recipe of 5-6 ounces - we did it all the time in the kitchen, re-sizing portions to save money or make more servings...
I really do not believe that manufacturers, restaurants or government should be responsible for regulating how much food we should or should not eat - we, as consumers should be allowed to make our own choices, given that the supply is there, why not?
I find it very sad that Chili's removed their bloomin' onion from the menu - If I were a patron there I would probably stop going, who are they to tell me what I can and cannot eat?
I have no issues with sugary drinks being taxed higher than water or sugar free options, same as cigarettes or alcohol being taxed very heavily - at least I still have the option of buying them, even if it makes my wallet lighter - but removing them all together???
