ha...I just went out and read the *1* ratings for GOTT. I'd have to say they are very

accurate. However, the story and readers held my interest through 7 long hours of driving and that's all that matters to me.

I listen to books on my commute too---sisters again! I finished #3 in Hannah Swenson mystery but

don't recommend---just too light and getting goofy. Cookie bakery in small town Minnesota and she solves murders and that town eats more cookies than I can even stand. We like the Chet and Bernie mysteries by Spenser Quinn. the narrator is Chet the dog----sounds odd but really quite good from the dog's perspective my DH really relates with Chet----very literal. Chet doesn't "get" euphemisms and it's quite funny. Have you read The Goldfinch? we are now 3 times through it. it's long and it seems to take forever to get out of the museum, but good book for audio and commute

Angela's Ashes made me LOL sometimes. fantastic writer. Lot's of Candles Plenty of Cake

a memoir that was pretty good. we're looking for some lighter reading as well. our bookclub tends to pick darker more serious books and we're getting weary.

the meringues are done! they won't win or even finish in the British bakeoff, but I think

they will be perfect. I didn't use a pastry bag/tip, just a baggie with end snipped, so they are a bit wonky, but filled and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and they will be perfect.

When I used to commute to work (3 hours daily) I did the same thing

now I work out of my house:)

We did The Goldfinch. So well written but there were pages after pages that I skipped (the Las Vegas part). It did not provoke a lot of discussion though:( However - the art museum had a discussion on the work and a lot of our members went to listen.

Live anything with meringue. America's Test Kitchen did a chocolate espresso

Daquoise that looked amazing. I would so like to someday make that.

I thought the Angel pie was wayyyyy too sweet. Would not make again. Shells for pavlova would be

Better. Not as sweet or rich as that chocolate mousse
