This blogger is a very talented photographer - editing software can only get you so far

but you need to have something good to start with to get results such as those on this blog.

In general, I find the pictures distracting when I am looking at the recipes, but to just enjoy them for what they are is a different activity.

I do like how they can demonstrate what the batter is supposed to look like at a certain point, etc. - it is especially helpful for a novice cook or baker.

 
I think most photos are edited, mine certainly are. I adjust color, brightness, and crop.

Cropping is my friend, actually, I get get a good close-up by cropping, plus take out a bad spot. Sometimes a beautiful golden brown crust on a food looks black and ugly in a food shot, so I crop it out and up comes a nice close-up of the beautiful parts. The magic of editing.
