except a slight breeze. This is maddening. By tomorrow I'll have turned into the Barber of Seville and baked my hairdresser into a pie. Hmmm...

Lasagna w. Sauce (for turkey haters)

Honey Brined Turkey w Cream Gravy

Baked Mashed Cheddar & Chive Potato Gratin

Roasted Harvest Vegetables w Pecan Gremolata

Green Beans & Asparagus w Cambozolo Sauce

Apple Salad w Blue Cheese Croutons & Cider Dressing

Mesclun Salad w Roasted Shallot Vinaigrette

Cocktail Meatballs (Mom's bringing them, so they are probably the original Betty Crockers ones with grape jelly)

Clams Casino

Marinated Shrimp Salad

Spicey Hummus w Toasted Pitas & Bagel Chips

Sweet Chicken & Bacon Wraps

Shredded Beef Tenderloin on Garlic Toasts w either Parsley Oil or Horseradish Mayo

Other people are bringing desserts and cookies.

Please don't tell me this is too heavy 'cos I'd have to kill myself. I know it's too heavy, but this happens once a year, so fuggedaboudit.

Oh, man.... I wanna come to your house for dinner! smileys/smile.gif

How many people are coming to your feast?

YUM!

I want to come to anybody's house but mine!

Haven't been in the Christmas mood this year and haven't done a darn thing. Plus, my family is so traditional and meat and potatoes that I generally can't have any fun with the menu. Everything is traditional and boring and I spend all day cooking and cleaning and cooking and cleaning. By about 2 or 3, my legs, back and feet hurt from all of it.

Okay - I searched & can't find the recipes. When you get a chance, please post

in particular the brine for the turkey and the roasted vegetables with the pecan gremolata. Also the salads and green beans sound exceptionally good.

Awww...darlin. I know what you mean, though....

That is the reason we are making an easy time of it this year. I am doing all kinds of snacky foods Christmas Eve. (Spinach Artichoke Dip, Hummus and other dips, Mexican Rings, Bruschetta, cheese tray, etc., along with tons of goodies. All finger foods that can be left out and munched on all evening. We're playing games and stuff and just RELAXING! smileys/smile.gif

Christmas Day, I am doing open faced hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy. Of course salad and some veggie dishes - but everything easy. My son-in-law is doing crab legs and shrimp fixed different ways to go with it.

Very easy - nothing real gourmet or hard to make. But - all good stuff that everyone will love! I'm just too tired this year to put all that work into 2 huge meals! I've been working my tail off on goodies, though! I've given TONS of stuff away but saved enough for the fam to pig-out on all they want. smileys/smile.gif

Sorry you are having a down year, hon! Remember, just being together is the important thing! Just enjoy whatever you do and remember the reason for the season! (((hugs)))

Love ya!

Missy, if it's not too late and you still have a small amount of genergy, cook some you want to..

It will make you feel better and who knows, it may be that many will enjoy a bit of change.
(sorry about the typ-os & grammar-os...

Oh, I will post them soon. Sorry. It's so hectic right now.

I have a good excuse. I know this is going to sound like way too much information, but my husband and I have separate rooms. Suffice it to say that after 17 years of sleeping with someone who sounds like a dying cow that I wanted my own space. Unfortunately, the computer with my 6000 plus recipes is in his room. I have tried to send the files to my laptop without success.

Know what you mean.... next year just order in dinner from the grocers and make one fabulous thing!

Then go out and get yourself a good massage, manicure and pedicure... you deserve it!

Heheheeeeeeeeeeee....ROFLOL! Oh, can I relate to the dying cow thing!!!

I just made a comment to my own DH last week that I hope his snoring didn't lead us to separate rooms. Man, he can suck the wallpaper off the walls!

ROFLOL & remembering a great aunt that sounded like and old fashioned perculator

Hearing the dead cow thing reminds me of a great aunt I had - I always immitated her at family gatherings. She sounded like an old fashioned coffee perculator.

But DH snores BADLY - I used my recent surgery as much as I could to sleep separately from him because he will not give on the separate rooms thing like my mom and dad do because of mom's snoring. I stayed up til almost 1am yesterday morning because DH was snoring. He kept saying I was snoring but I think he's hearing himself. But I just had surgery to shave off some of the crooked bone in my nose so I shouldn't have all the stopped up sinuses and make ANY noises again (mine were little wheezes from being stopped up). He's pretty bad but I don't know how to describe it because he makes this really weird noise along with the snoring and talks in his sleep.

BTW - don't worry about the recipes - I just want to add them because they sound so good. Definitely not rushing out to try them Tuesday. Thanks!

HA - being together is what may kill me.....

My new job I started gives us off the week between Christmas & New Years. Last year I had just started and went in two of those days. This year I plan to take off and DH has use it or loose it time so he's going to be off and DD (16 years old) is going to be here. The three of us with that much time together may land one or more of us in BIG trouble! Oh well - I have some guys working on projects - maybe I'll have to run check on them and stop at the shopping centers or something along the way.

(TNFR chat inside) Missy, actually - I sleep with an ear plug! : )

Only one. I keep the other ear down on the pillow and when I fall asleep I roll over and don't hear him. OR roll back on the plugged ear. smileys/smile.gif

I'm scared to sleep with both ears plugged in case of fire or other such thing. Could be dangerous as those foam ear plugs really block the noise!

My mom snored really loud, too. You could hear her across the house!!

Boy, we're wading in some strange topics lately, huh? ha

You need to have some girlfriend time that week....

My girlfriends save my sanity!! smileys/smile.gif
(not that I am totally sane, you understand......)

Thank you, God for women friends!!!
