Tips for making refrigerator / icebox cookies

Ever notice how your log of refrigerator or pinwheel cookies gets flat on one side from sitting on the refrigerator shelf? Keep it nice and round by standing it upright in a tall drinking glass while it's chilling.

Do the cookies flatten further when you try to slice them? Try rotating the log 1/4 turn after each slice.

Some people use a loop of dental floss wrapped around the log -- pull tightly and it evenly slices through the cookie all the way around. I have never had any luck with this method.

Having trouble with the cookies crumbling as you try to slice them? Try freezing the log, then use a very a very sharp to slice through. This only works with certain recipes; some will crumble worse that way, but it is worth trying if you're having problems.
