Why not grow herbs in a sunny window in the winter? I think I experience separation anxiety

when the frost arrives and my herbs snooze.

I have a plastic greenhouse that works well but I think your region would be a bit beyond its effectiveness.

i've had bad herb luck the last few years so have been chicken to try. now that we're in southern

ontario, i don't really have an excuse (same latitude as northern california - crazy). it's very gray here all winter so not sure if i'll get enough sun...still, it's worth a try.

I apologize to all of you (hee hee) that don't have a TJ's, but I don't have

access to half the stuff you guys talk about. I can't even get rabe and I just found out that haricots verts are flippin green beans. There's got to be a difference because Craig Claiborne, when he was alive, separated the 2 in his cookbooks. He had green bean recipes and he had haricot verts recipes.

Haricot verts are supposed to be really tiny and slender. I see them at Costco, fresh and I've

bought the frozen ones there. They are sold whole in 5 lb packages and are actually from France, I believe. Tastes just like a green bean to me, lol.

Guess what, in my Quebec supermarkets haricots verts have been green beans for the last 13 years!

They're better fresh but I find them less expensive frozen in the bag at

Trader Joe's (and cook them quickly with a little butter as the frozen haricot vert are even more fragile than the fresh).
