Travel Cake!

In a NYT article about 6 Things To Delight Your Day, one of the 6 things was Travel Cake, namely a "light-crumbed, near-indestructible dessert, one that would hold up on a long journey." Pound cake and fruit cake were mentioned. What a delightful concept! I'll have to start taking cake when I travel.
I'd also never heard of a 'pastry artist'.

While travel cake doesn’t seem unusual to me, see the cake carrier exactly like mom had that lived on top of the fridge my entire childhood. However, travel cake brings visions of harry potter on a train unwrapping cake tied uo with paper and a string by Ron’s mother.
