Oops, Karen, this was meant as a response to the thread and not to you specifically.

!@#?, I'm sorry.

Haven't been here for awhile - Hi - I feel so sorry for folk who have to

use such boring adjectives all the time - whether they are talking or in this case writing. The odd word to make a statement, offensive as it might be, can be overlooked but to try to shock many times in one statement / sentence shows a lack of maturity and a small vocabulary. OH well, seems the norm for many these days. (Make no mistake I too can talk/write like this - anyone can.)

For me there are some nice recipes but I can't be bothered to sort out the offensive words to read the recipe.

Yes, they are supposed to be used for emphasis.

Constant inappropriate use means they lose all impact and the result is just poor writing. Repetition of any word for effect would be the same - very annoying. I agree with MariaDNoCal - no style.

I work with a 26 year old man who talks like that. He's a nice guy, just has this habit. I wonder whether Saveur hopes to pick up younger readers this way.

I don't mind well-placed sailor words, but used as the writer did on the blog is a turn off.

I recently checked out a newly released vegetarian cookbook from the library - the recipes looked really intriguing but was written in the same style as the blog in question. smileys/frown.gif I was going to be working with my teen-aged niece in the kitchen, and couldn't go there with her.

I feel fairly safe in saying that we're not the blog's target audience. smileys/wink.gif That said...

I find that style really tiresome. One blog post, maybe. An entire blog, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
