I have been down with the little flu (compared to others) so we watched movies today. My faves were Little Miss Sunshine and Cool Hand Luke. Oh my gosh, young Paul Newman, oh my.

Any other movies???

Loved the ending of Little Miss Sunshine!!!

The whole way through the movie, I kept thinking, what an odd little movie this is. It's one of those movies where I sit there, wondering if I should keep watching, or just turn it off.

But the ending had me rolling on the floor! Made me a fan. Loved it!

"The Great Game Ever Played" (2005). You don't have to love golf and it's the only

time I've seen my husband sob!

It's a true story directed by Bill Paxton and starring Shia LaBeouf.

Doc Hollywood, Amelie, Nanny McPhee, Charades (Hepburn version), Random Harvest,

A Knight's Tale, Once, The Thomas Crown Affair (Bronson version), The Italian Job, Rough Cut (1980 film), Hopscotch (1980-Walter Matthau), Young Frankenstein, Harold & Maude, Out of Africa, The Matrix.

Here are some food-related movies:

--Chocolat (chocolate, Juliette Binoche AND Johnny Depp!! What more could you want?)

--Babette's Feast

--Like Water for Chocolate

--Eat, Drink, Man, Woman

--Big Night

Some relationship movies:

--The Lion in Winter (with Katherine Hepburn--so fabulous and Peter O'Toole)

--A Little Romance (Diane Lane's first acting job)

--When Harry Met Sally

A few set in New Mexico:

--The Milagro Beanfield War (the book is much more funny)

--Off the Map

--The Tao of Steve

(Note: I went to a small liberal arts school in Santa Fe; one of the filmmakers went to this school and based "Steve" on a student there who was a few years ahead of me--it was very odd to watch this movie!)

That should keep you out of trouble for a while! Hope you feel better soon.

The Sting, The China Syndrome, The Producers (the original with Zero Mostel), The Wizard Of Oz,

The Odd Couple (the original with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon), Sleeper, High Anxiety, La Cage Aux Folles I and II (the originals), The Return Of The Pink Panther, 12 Angry Men, The Best Years Of Our Lives, Dial M For Murder, The Stranger, Sorry Wrong Number, My Fair Lady, Meet John Doe, and so many more I can't think of at the moment. Love Harold and Maude, Young Frankenstein, Big Night, Babette's Feast, which were previously mentioned. Also, the Marx Brothers' Night At The Opera and Day At The Races (minus the hokey, terrible "singing" from Kitty Carlisle, Alan Jones, etc. Ugh).

"A Good Year" and also "Under the Tuscan Sun", both fun movies about Tuscany.

I loved A month at the Lake with Vanessa Redgrave and also French Kiss with Meg Ryan.

I watched the Quentin Tarrantino Grindhouse double feature yesterday on cable,

Death Proof and Planet Terror - great films but graphic, as Tarrantino's movies always are. I love his little touches of humor, movie inside jokes, I guess he's trying to be the Hitchcock thing. I also watched Men in Black and Independence Day but napped through most of them! Yesterday was a good couch potato day..

Feel better, Dawn! I love the old classics, and the library is a

good spot for locating even the most obscure ones... even if they have to send out for them. Of course now they're all DVDs, and at book sales now they are selling the old VHSs for 10-25 cents each!

A Good Year has Russell Crowe, sigh, and M Cotillard, this year's Oscar best actress winner

Gone with the Wind ^Dances with Wolves^GodFather I, II ^The Sting^Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid....

ANY: Robert Redford, Paul Newman, James Cagney, Robert Di Nero, Sean Connery, Al Pachino (Justice for All)and Kurt Russell Movie.

I like westerns too:

Young Guns I, II, McKenna's Gold,
Tombstone (Kurt Russell)

Just to name a few. These are great for watching when not feeling well~ which I really hope you get better

my favorite year, it happened one night, the awful truth, how to steal a million...
