Weekend Fun/Six

My weekend Six(looks like we're all waking up from a long winter's sleep!)

Baked a 7-up cake with a fruit sauce and a monkey bread for a church function---yay. reason to bake---and give it away!

Dog walking at the doggie park on Sat---muddy awful mess, but it's definitely Spring.

Prom night Sat---neighbors invited me over to ogle all the pretty young couples, then pizza and Barnes and Nobles. fun night.

Womens Show at the arena on Sunday. Fun and spent some tax refund money---on me! yay again.

Dinner and a movie(Oceans---beautiful, but can lull some of the audience to sleep!) really fun evening.

My grandson sent me a flat Stanley to return to his class. here is a weekend siting of Stanley in Anchorage---he is definitely not in Seattle anymore!

Dawn, I was thinking the same thing!! How does she fit 3 hams in the freezer!! : )

I really need to stop shopping and empty/use my freezer.

We had such a fun day! (pictures inside)

Marianne and her husband Jim are such sweethearts, and we were chatting nonstop, naturally! We got on like houses on fire and just really enjoyed our day together.

Here are some pictures:

Look! tomatoes!!

We poked about all the stalls outside on the pier and chatted with the farmers and locals, and tourists. It was a beautiful day and great fun. We (as a whole) purchased herb salts, lavender sachets, fresh herbs, pumpkin seed levain, young creamy goat cheese, hydrosols of rose, raw almonds, pate and a smoked pork t-bone from the Fatted Calf in Napa, lemon verbena soda, and sampled about a hundred different delicious things.

After our sumptuous lunch at the SF Seafood Company:

we strolled around the inside of the Ferry building and sampled chocolate and caramel sauces, candy cap mushroom ice cream, local olive oils and shopped for goodies in the various stall inside, such a fun array of stuff. We were headed to the gelato shop (Blackberry Cabernet, campari grapefruit, key lime pie, OMG) you will never guess who I saw... The Mayor! You can't visit SF without saying hello to the Mayor so I chatted him up while Marianne found Jim in the crowd and they posed for pictures.

Don't you love that!

We took our gelato outside to the back of the pier and enjoyed the breeze (balmy!!) and watched the fireboat show off for everyone.

It was wonderful to connect with Marianne and Jim and we were generating ideas left and right for their winery and for jobs for me. I am seriously considering taking up the suggestion for tours of the farmer's market. Thank you Marianne!!

It was hard to say goodbye (sniff sniff) but what a fun day.

Marianne, I am sorry that Capp's Corner was disappointing. I guess everyone has an off night but what a bummer. You and Jim need to come out again and stay for a month this time... that way we can cook some of the things from the farmers market!

That is so cool!!! Thanks for sharing the pics and the details of a fun day! I love the

"meeting the mayor" part!"

Yes, isn't it fun when you find something interesting? That's how excited I got

when I found out last week that one of my direct ancestors came over on the Mayflower, signed the Mayflower Compact, and was at the first Thanksgiving!

Your weekend adventures always sound so fun!

On the Mayflower! So awesome!

When we moved to Bastrop I had no idea that any of my family had settled here. It was incredible to discover that my gggggrandfather was cited by S.F.Austin as one of Texas first families, and that he is buried in our cemetery! We could have moved anywhere after DH retired from an overseas career (we never lived in Texas) - I just liked the town so this is where we bought property. Wierd, eh?

The plan--you and I head south, grab Traca in Seattle and go play in Heather's yard!
