and i will help hubby with some easy cooking instuctions. For some respite, can you give me ideas for commercially prepared foods that tastes good. either costo stuff or frozen foods in the markets. thanks....

Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby?

They have some of the most amazing stuff ready to heat & eat!

Sorry to hear of your injury. Heal quickly.

Hmm, the costco ravioli are nice -- the roasted chicken good and a good value, They have a pecan

crusted tilapia that is pretty good. Rotten luck -- guess you will be ambidextrious next year, eh???

Sorry to hear about your accident...

try to rest your hand, and use your left. If you have a cast on it, make sure you keep it dry. Crockpot recipes are good, as are one dish meals. I will post some after the holidays, which I know won't do you much good right now, but the holidays are sucking me in. Have a great holiday season in spite of you injury. feel better!

I'm echoing the TJ's recommendations. Lots of good prepared foods and

in reasonable quantities for smaller households. There are a few great bagged salads too especially the baby spinach one with dried cranberries, candied pecans, blue cheese and raspberry dressing.

Rotisserie chickens are great too with leftovers providing extended meals for sandwiches, soups and casseroles.

Hope you heal quickly, Karen.

thanks for the suggestions

it seems i'm not alone with unexpected challanges right now. steve is right....we must rise up to our challenges, and take them head-on.

We don't all have hair on our chest like Steve2 *g*, so I agree with all these great suggestions!

Confessions of a Costco junkie.....

I had this whole thing typed up and realized I am a Costco junkie so I changed the title and deleted everything I had written.

Anyway I'll try not to look like such an addict but.....

The refrigerated soups (the two packs) are good except for the tomato basil which I find too sweet for my taste but that's just me.

I've tried almost everything there so I am going to tell you what I don't like after my last list started looking ridiculous.

I DON'T like their house made chicken noodle soup but do like the house made chicken salad as well as the other gourmet chicken salad in the deli cases.

I don't like the 'crispy' breaded tilapia in the frozen section.

I don't like the artichoke dip/sauce whatever it is in the open deli cases.

I don't like the frozen French onion soup - bread cubes - yucky!

I don't like the Vigo boxed paella mix - NASTY. DD talked me into this one.

I do like the frozen taquitos but not so much the fresh deli ones.

I can honestly say that I really have tried WAY more than average of their products - fresh, frozen, and shelf stable. I don't buy too many of the prepared heat and eat entrees out of the deli area often because I can make them from scratch cheaper but I have tried all of them probably at least once in attempts to get DD to eat better by having ready to eat stuff around.

If you have specifice items or questions, let me know. Otherwise, I'll shut up. I'm having Costco withdrawals. It's bad when they know you (and recognize your spouse and daughter by name), pick at you, are on their Christmas Day email list, and hug you when you wish them Merry Christmas.....
