What are your favorite kitchen tools, gadgets, etc?

mine: silicone spatulas, silicone spoon with pointy side for pot corners, Mom's metal spatula

I think of her every time I use it. I think it came with a set of "waterless" cookware she got ages ago. and this is cuckoo crazy, but I use an empty plastic Crystal Lite container to put water in for adding water to things like extra water in rice or sauce etc. it is the best flexible plastic and ever so handy.

Mine:

microplaner
assortment of wood cutting boards
kitchen knives
food processor
silicone mats for cookie baking
kitchen aid mixer

Just ordered a flat whisk - thank you for all who mentioned it!

I'm excited to receive it (I'm an Amazon gal) - I make pan sauces all the time:)

I thought of this thread last night whilst preparing dinner and used the food processor, blender,

and hand mixer along with way too many dishes for the dishwasher. My poor husband was kept busy washing up after me. I made a chile relleno casserole, Jim Peyton's green rice, salsa and guacamole. Doesn't sound like much but I sure produced a lot of dirty dishes, spatulas, knives, etc.

Their edges are much too thick for me. I like the thinner ones...no particular brand

and they're hard to find!

with the thinner ones, you can even flip a pancake if that's all you have for a tool. scrapes a bowl

squeaky clean too. I like the silicone for the heat resistance but also I think they last a lot longer than rubber ones.
