What did you have for Valentine's Day dinner?

Why wait so long, go out in a few days for a romantic date. On of the things we love to do

is to go to a weenie kiosk, get a Spicy Polish Kraut Dog with lots of sauerkraut and go down to the river to watch the water fowl. We take our dog and she loves it too. We even let her eat ONE chip...it is the highlight of her day! Highlight of ours too because they have the best dogs, the freshest buns and homemade sauerkraut!

Surprised my husband with dinner at his favorite French spot. Duck sandwich for him, pate for me. smileys/smile.gif

I made spaghetti carbonara, caesar salad, brownies and rice krispy treats, as our dd

does not eat chocolate. Her face / smile was priceless when she saw the treats, as she thought I was only making brownies. I served the carbonara sauce over zoodles for dh.
I dug up my nana and pop-pops green / red fancy christmas china and used the red to set the table, put out candles, etc. Was fun. It was funny because our kids are not used to eating at the same time unless its sunday family dinner or when we all eat together in the family room on weekends, enjoying a movie. It was hard for dd, as she wanted to do homework, and ds wanted to turn on tv. I enjoyed it, and I rec'd huge accolades individually from them the next morning. It was a special night!

Cafe Un Deux Trois on W. 44th. Jakub loves it. (I think they do one or two things well...

but I steer clear of anything but those things. I love the interior, which feels like someplace you'd find off the Etoile in Paris, but I have a few rules about the place--I never go in, pre-theater; only after. I stick to appetizers or small plates, as that's where they focus the great ingredients.)

It's not exactly off the beaten path, but we've been going there since we moved here and it's grown on me. To their credit, they've never sneered at us when we've brought our daughter, but we've never seen many kids in there.)

But I wanted to do something nice for Jakub, so I knew he'd be happy here. smileys/smile.gif

I'm not sure where my favorite French place is here... Would have to think about it!

Sounds like a very special dinner at a special place. I'll have to ask George the name of the

French restaurant were they politely asked him to "borrow" a jacket for dinner. He met me from work, and I was having a meeting in the city. It was spontaneous. The nice man at the door way politely told us that he could borrow a dry cleaned jacket. So funny! BUT, best, french food we have had since we were in France. I'll ask dh the name.

Sounds like you pulled off a wonderful surprise dinner!

I will keeper recommendation of Cafe Un Deux Trois in mind next time for a special occasion!
