What do you put on your popcorn? Have you ever tried it with oil instead of butter? I like it with

Parmigiano Reggiano, but I'd rather not add butter, so am wondering how it would turn out with extra virgin olive oil. But... I'm thinking the oil would take away the crunch.

I'm also thinking of trying it with chocolate or peanut butter or both!

The stuff on movie theater popcorn is mostly oil. Butter is more likely to take away crunch

After trying several different "made for popcorn" cheddar cheese flavorings, I just open a packet of cheese out of the Kraft macaroni and cheese box and sprinkle some of that over lightly buttered popcorn. Yeah, I know it sounds disgusting, but I want that sharp cheese taste and nothing else was working. Anyone know how you can get the cheese powder like they use in the tins at Christmas? You know, like from the Popcorn Factory?

I want to eat popcorn when I want something yummy but not adding calories to my daily intake

Usually have it when hubby and I have our "in house" movie date on Sundays. I spray it with olive oil then add any number of things, such as Cajun seasoning, salt and garlic powder. I have tried so many combinations and nothing really grabbed me. There was one that was really yummy, but I could not recall what I used. So I just keep playing with things from the spice cabinet.

I usually just add a tiny bit of salt and black pepper - that's it. But

sometimes I like a little Parmigiano Reggiano with it, so I need something to make it stick. I never use butter with popcorn, and the few times I used the cheese, of course, it all fell to the bottom. I was wondering how the oil would work.

Do you have a special spray thingie for the olive oil?

If not already buttered, butter. Wouldn't have it any other way.... um...

except I haven't tried it with the "neon" cheese... that sounds very appealing as none other, cheezz mentioned.

It glows in the dark, but SO tasty..just needs a little butter or spray to help it stick.

That's why I'd like to find the powder because it would disperse better and not need as much butter to stick.

My sis and I have been known to go into a theater JUST to buy a tub of popcorn and take it home smileys/smile.gif

I haven't met a bowl of popcorn that I didn't like...

and I do all sorts of additions when I make it.

Mostly a flavored cheddar popcorn salt that is powdered so it adheres better.

But I also add these items:

Grated parmesan, garlic powder, chives, and paprika. I dizzle melted butter on top with this one to get better adherence.

Grippo's Barbeque powder

Curry powder

Penzey's Green Goddess salad dressing mix

Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing mix

Popcorn topping

Have you tried the Vermont Cheese Powder from Baker's Catolog? I think it's 6oz for $7.95 I haven't tried it but usually have good results with their products. I love popcorn too, and am going to order some since I have a gift card from Bakers catalogue. Will let you know how it goes!
