What is on the menu for Canadian Thanksgiving? Anything traditional?

We always had the same dishes for Canadian and American Thanksgiving.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, squash, Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Pie and Pumpkin Spice Cake. And then we repeated it for Christmas.

To recap:
October: turkey with all the trimmings
November: turkey with all the trimmings
December: turkey with all the trimmings

By January, I never wanted to see turkey again.

Yep, same old stuff. Except that yam pudding with all the marshmallows. Where in the heck

did that come from?

And I still prefer the good old canned cranberry sauce (not jelly) to all the fresh mixtures I've tasted.

So...turkey, mashed potatoes with big valleys for gravy, usually brussels sprouts (don't know why), sometimes corn, pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Addendum: Acorn squash with maple syrup, of course!

Not Thanksgiving-related, but whenever we went up to Canada (several times a year), we used to get these maple-leaf sandwich cookies with maple frosting...so good.

French fries (chips) with gravy. or...how I made it thru university (college). Geez, the

translations to the other side of the border. Pronounced...poo teen

I think it translates into French as a teeny weeny pout.

Red Pepper Soup with a Golden Maple Leaf Centre, Roast Turkey, Sausage Sage Stuffing,

Gravy, Rummy Cranberry Sauce, Roasted Buttercup Squash, Broccoli/Cauliflower Gratin, Roasted Balsamic Red Onions and for dessert Balzano Apple Cake and Pumpkin Pie. Burp!

There is a Canadian beachside pub here where a lot of the young 'uns meet for Heineken after work ..

an of course the fav snack is chips 'n gravy...I'm not sure I liked the gravy they offered, it was a bit different, I think it may have been a packaged one...(from Canadia, of course)

Oh and while on the subject of Canadia we are now getting a TV ....

program called "Gags" .......sooooo funny.
Canadians are a whacky and really fun bunch, some of them who live here are quite outrageous, my kind of folk!

We had turkey at Thanksgiving, Christmas and then again at Easter.

When we still had turkey from Easter in the freezer as Thanksgiving approached, we finally gave up and started choosing different countries and hosting an international Christmas every year and bunny shaped pizza for Easter.
