What?! The day after Christmas and no posts in the Larder Barter?! Did everyone love their gifts?

I told myself that I'd use the week between Christmas and New Year's to assess what I have....

and downsize. That means looking through the cookbooks, bakeware, etc that I never use and deciding which to offer in the larder barter or just take off to a flea market.

I have years and years and years of Bon Appetit and Martha Stewart. Once before when I did a purge I cut out the recipes I wanted and threw the rest of the magazine away. How wasteful was I??!!! Now, I'll scan what I want and recycle to whomever wants.

Look for some posts in the new year.

another good place to send your magazines is a radiation/chemo center. lots of waiting time in

those places and any magazines or books are always welcome. There never seem to be enough.

Even a Ronald McDonald House - my friends spent a lot of time at one of those...

20 years ago when their son had stage 4 bone cancer at age 4. She said the parents who stayed there read and played games to help keep their minds off of the seriousness of their children's illnesses.

They still keep in touch with a few of the families after all these years.

DH travels quite often. We keep a bag in the closet that he tosses the hotel toiletries into. When

it's full I take it to the local R McD House. Perfect for them- some families only stay one night.
