Mo, here's what I figured: My Vitamix is ~1400 watts. A basic 10-speed $30 blender is 450 W.
I started it on low speed and cranked the dial up to 5 (out of 10) for a few minutes. Worked perfectly. I'd say about 90% of the icing "blopped" out with a little urging from a spatula and then I had to dig the rest out under the blades. But then I have to do that with EVERYTHING I make in the Vitamix...even smoothies.
I've never made it in a food processor, but it seems like it would work if you ran it long enough. While this icing isn't an emulsification, I've seen Pierre Herme's Lemon Cream recipe say you can use a food processor as a second choice after a blender. And if it's good enough for that, it should work here.
