Japanese tourists buy them all the time, so it's becoming popular there.
I think the tourists buy cans of Spam here, so they can make spam musubi at home. We even sell spam slicers (imagine a mozzarella slicer, with wires to cut the slices, but perfectly sized for a can of spam smileys/smile.gif
The last time we travelled to Japan, I looked at a department store basement, where they sell groceries as well as prepared foods.
In the grocery section, there was an "international" aisle, with lots of different things. Can you believe they had Spam, for about $8.00 a can??!?
I love Spam, but not at $8.00! $1.79 is the most I'd pay smileys/smile.gif

Never have
